A municipal water system is operated by the city, along with a lagoon wastewater treatment plant built in 2020. Water meters are read each month around the 25th. The city also handles garbage and recycling pick-up. The City also operates a maintenance building at 618 Main Street, where you can take cardboxes for recycling. Garbage is picked up every Wednesday with a few exceptions throughout the year, as we share our garbage truck with Wheatland and Grand Mound. Recycle pick-up is curbside every other Tuesday. New residents can obtain a blue recycle container from the city clerk's office at a cost of $31.00. Customer Utility Deposits are $250 for rental properties and $200 for homeowners. You may obtain the Utility Application Form from the Forms link on the homepage. The City will require an in-person visit to sign up for utilites along with identification and utility deposit.
