Lowden offers a diverse selection of well-maintained older and newer homes. It is evident in the homeowners' neat, clean homes and property that community pride is abundant. 

Several apartment complexes, including the Cottage Square Apartments, a senior citizens housing complex, are located in the community. Lowden offers a wide selection of living choices at affordable rental rates.

Building permits are required for all exterior remodeling, additions or construction that changes the dimension of the building. Forms are available at the city clerk's office. The project must be approved by the city council before work can begin.

COTTAGE SQUARE
Sixteen one-bedroom apartments for senior citizens were built in 1990. The Cottage Square Apartment complex, located on Main Street between Jefferson and Hall Avenues includes four 4-plex apartment buildings and a central building with kitchen, dining and laundry use. This is an FMHA project, interested individuals can call 941-5301 for additional information.

LINCOLN HOTEL
The Lincoln Hotel, located at the intersection of Main and Washington Streets, is hotel/bed and breakfast. The building  was restored in 1995 after more than a half century of service to rail and automobile travelers along the Old Lincoln Highway.
