***NOTICES IS HEREBY GIVEN that The City Council of the City of Lowden, Iowa, will hold a Public Hearing on Monday, May 7, 2018, during the regular scheduled Council meeting at City Council Chambers, 501 Main Street, Lowden, Iowa at 5:30 o’clock p.m. for the purpose of soliciting public comments oral or written in regards to City proposed rate increases for Sewer, Sewer Project Fee, Meter Fee, Garbage and Bulk Garbage rates. Lowden City Council is currently addressing problems with ageing infrastructure and equipment and has begun the project of replacing its existing Wastewater Treatment Facility, which has reached the end of its useful life. The City is also planning for other short and long term needs of the City and plans to replace/upgrade of all its water meter equipment and software within the next few years. Recommended rate increase to residential and commercial garbage are also planned along with a future increase of 1 percent each year during 2019, 2020 and 2021. In addition, an increase to current bulk garbage rates and also a fee for excessive garbage left by a homeowner/renter/business when they move out is proposed.
